Everyone is familiar with Smartphones, they have become a important part of our daily lives. We take it with us anywhere we go unlike landlines which were used earlier. Landline uses wired technology to connect with people. However smartphones use wireless technology. 

In this article I will explain you the major difference between a smartphone and a landline, I guess most of you are familiar with the differences. Before going to the differences, Here is the brief description of Smartphone and Landline. 

Smartphone & Landline Brief Description 

Smartphone - Smartphone is the latest technology in the Telecommunication field. They are wireless telephones. Smartphones not only connect you with people but also offers a wide variety of servises like internet, games, videos, camera and a lot more. In the recent years smartphones technology has developed a lot. Smartphones are like mini computers or laptop. 

Landline - Landlines are wired telephones which uses cables to connect with people. There are only limited services available on landlines. Landlines can be used to call and send messages. You cannot take it with you if you are going somewhere. Usage of landlines is decreasing as smartphones are taking it's position. But in the past people don't have much options for communications, but after landlines came into existence people started using landlines to a great extend.

Smartphone - Wireless Network connection can be used in several locations expect places where there is no network connection. 

Landline - Wired Network Connection can be used in a single location only. 

Usage 

Smartphone - 4..4 Billion users worldwide in 2021. Smartphones have taken over landlines. 

Landline - 915 million users as of 2019. These figures are taken from reliable sources. 

Cost 

Landline - In most of the cases cost of landline connection is much higher than cell phones or smartphone. You need to pay bills regularly to keep your services upto date. 

Smartphone - Also termed as cell phones are affordable due to their cheap recharge plans. This is one of the top reasons why landlines users are decreasing. 

Lifestyle 

Smartphone - Purpose of a smartphone or cell phone is not only calling but it can perform a lot of different tasks. You can connect to people and surf over internet through smartphone. You can play games, watch videos and do a lot of things using a smartphone. Smartphone had made life so simple that you can connect to people anytime anywhere you want. 

Landline - landlines are featured less telephones, which can be used for calling and messaging only. They do not offer any extra features. 

Emergency 

Smartphone - In case of emergency cell phone or smartphone is the best option, for example you met with an car accident and you are away from home. In this case cell phone is the best option for you. Cell phone do not share location details. 

Landline - landlines offer longitude and latitude, which is useful in case location is unknown of a caller. This feature is not available in smartphones.
